Pottery Class Terms & Conditions

This document explains how your classes operate and what participants can expect.

1. Registration and Payment

  • Registration is required before attending any class.

  • A spot is not considered reserved until payment has been received.

  • Class sizes are limited to [6–10] participants to maintain a safe and enjoyable learning environment.

  • Participants must provide accurate contact information at registration.

2. Cancellation and Refund Policy

  • Cancellations made more than 30 days before the scheduled class may receive a full refund.

  • Cancellations made under 30 days are non-refundable.

  • Missed classes (“no-shows”) are not eligible for refunds.

3. Studio Rules and Participant Responsibilities

  • Participants agree to:

  • Follow all safety instructions provided by the instructor.

  • Use tools, equipment, and materials only as instructed.

  • Treat the studio, equipment, and other participants with care and respect.

  • Keep work areas clean and organized.

  • Inform the instructor of any medical conditions, allergies, injuries, mobility concerns, or other circumstances that may affect participation.

  • Avoid attending while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  • The instructor reserves the right to remove any participant who behaves unsafely, disruptively, or in a manner that risks harm to themselves, others, or property.

4. Health and Safety Expectations

  • I understand that participating in pottery activities involves certain risks, including but not limited to:

  • Cuts or injuries from pottery tools or equipment.

  • Exposure to clay, glazes, ceramic materials, and studio dust.

  • Slips, trips, or falls.

  • Strains or injuries related to physical activity such as wedging clay, lifting materials, or working at a pottery wheel.

  • Damage to personal clothing, belongings, or finished pottery pieces.

  • I acknowledge that pottery involves inherent risks and agree to participate responsibly.

5. Personal Property Policy

  • Participants understand that pottery involves materials and processes that may result in accidental damage.

  • Fern & Fire Studio is not responsible for:

  • Lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings.

  • Clothing or personal items damaged by clay, glaze, or studio materials.

  • Finished pottery pieces that crack, break, warp, or otherwise fail during drying, firing, glazing, or other ceramic processes.

6. Finished Pottery Disclaimer

  • Participants understand that ceramic work may change during the drying and firing process.

  • While reasonable care will be taken, Fern & Fire Studio cannot guarantee that completed pieces will survive firing or meet the participant’s expectations.

  • Possible outcomes include:

  • Cracking

  • Warping

  • Glaze variations

  • Colour changes

  • Breakage during firing

  • Participants accept these risks as part of the ceramic process.

7. Photography Consent (optional)

  • From time to time, photos or videos may be taken during classes.

  • Please select one:

  • ☐ I give permission for photographs/videos of me and my artwork to be used for promotional purposes, including social media and website content.

  • ☐ I do not give permission for photographs/videos of me to be used publicly.
